The Placement Process

Our process is designed to be simple, supportive, and stress-free.

It begins with a short onboarding call where we learn about your family’s needs, schedule, values, and the type of nanny you’re looking for.

From there:
  • We collect your role details (schedule, responsibilities, preferences).
  • You submit a service deposit and your search officially begins.
  • KikiCare sources, screens, and vets candidates specifically for your family.
  • We send you curated applications that match your preferences.
  • We coordinate interviews, trial days, and follow-ups.
  • We support salary discussions so both you and the nanny feel aligned and comfortable.
  • Once the nanny is official and begins working, we help guide the onboarding period.
We stay with you every step of the way—from the first call to the first day and beyond.

It’s completely up to you.

Some families prefer to be very hands-on with reviewing profiles and leading interviews, while others want KikiCare to handle as much as possible. We adapt to your style:
  • You can review every candidate and drive the conversation, or
  • You can lean on us to screen, shortlist, and guide you through each step.
Either way, we keep you informed and supported throughout the search.

Getting started is easy:
  • Click "Book" in the navigation on our website.
  • Fill out the short intake form about your family and childcare needs.
  • We’ll reach out to schedule your free discovery call.
From there, we’ll walk you through next steps and timing based on your specific situation.

KikiCare supports a wide range of family needs. We place:
  • Full-time nannies
  • Part-time nannies
  • Live-in and live-out arrangements
  • Before / after-school coverage
  • Flexible or non-traditional schedules (early mornings, evenings, weekends)
  • Short-term or temporary care, when available
Every family’s situation is unique—KikiCare is here to help all families in all situations find reliable, trusted care.

Screening & Safety

Every nanny goes through a multi-step vetting process before being presented to families. This typically includes:
  • Application and experience review
  • Work history and role fit assessment
  • Reference checks conducted by Kara and the KikiCare team
  • Personality and communication screening
  • A national background check prior to placement
Only candidates who meet our standards for professionalism, reliability, and childcare experience move forward.

Yes. Before a nanny becomes official with your family, KikiCare runs:
  • National criminal background check
  • Sex offender registry check
  • Identity verification
  • Optional: driving record (DMV) check, when relevant

Absolutely. We encourage it.

KikiCare coordinates interviews and trial days so you can see how the nanny interacts with your children and fits into your home before you make a final decision.

Yes. KikiCare conducts reference checks as part of our process, and if you’d like to personally speak with previous families, we’re happy to coordinate those calls so you can ask your own questions directly.

After placement, KikiCare continues to support families with:
  • Check-ins during the transition period

We’re here as a partner, not just a one-time matchmaker.

Yes. We regularly support both families and nannies through salary and offer discussions.

Our goal is for both sides to feel respected and aligned—so the arrangement is sustainable, fair, and clear from day one.

We charge a deposit to begin your search, and a placement fee once your nanny is official and has started working with your family.

We don’t list exact pricing online, but our fees remain highly competitive compared to other agencies in Fairfield County while maintaining a high-touch, personalized service.

No. Nannies are employed directly by the families they work for.

KikiCare operates as your referral and placement partner—helping you find, vet, and hire the right caregiver, while you remain the direct employer.
